ReplyDeleteThe person who witnessed the picture on facebook's first thoughts were in line with what I would normally assume when viewing an image like that. I thought it was odd that he got so upset that the violent crime was committed by the police. Due to the history of unrest in the middle east and the way dictators treat their subjects , as an adult I thought he would have experience seeing or hearing about that kind of violent crime. His response , while valid was a little more emotional than I expected. He described it as If he had never seen anything like that before. That really stood out to me.
The fact that he assumed he could speak for the murdered man kinda bothered me a little. It was for a good cause but it's a little off-putting when someone just assumes a role like that and attempts to use events to steer a mob in whatever direction he / she pleases.
The fact that this one particular incident spread the way it did on facebook baffles me, the movement could have begun much sooner had those actions been taken sooner.
